ECOHOTEL PUERTO DE OJÉN - ECOLOGICAL?

The ecohotel denomination in our name correspond to the determination of performing the construction works of the hotel observing scrupulously the natural environment where it is situated.

The terrain excavations were made without a gram of dynamite in order to preserve the soil from possible alterations, and were finished with bulldozers to maintain the surrounding flora & fauna free of contamination.

Non aggressive building materials were used, neither in the electric wiring nor in the plumbing installation together with a huge effort which allows us to provide enough solar energy to cover every need of hot water, central heating system, swimming pool warming and above all, air conditioning, generated by solar energy while we take advantage of the remaining calorific energy to be reused in the common areas as corridors, halls, etcetera.

The whole project has been awarded by the “Junta de Andalucía” (Andalusian government organization) with the “Premio innova de tecnología”(technology innovation award).

It is also important to be said that we have controlled the lighting consumption: by using almost 80% of low consume light bulbs and by installing movement detectors in order to save as much energy as possible, not forgetting the main needs of the hotel, together with recycling the water for an irrigation use taking care that every material is recycled as desired.
